EveryCare Hospice
Welcome to our Member Spotlight series, where we proudly showcase the individuals and businesses making a difference in our coworking community and throughout DFW. Today, we have the pleasure of spotlighting Tolisha Banks with EveryCare Hospice, a world class medical care provider officing out of CityCentral Fort Worth. Join us as we learn more about how Tonisha got involved in the business of helping others and what makes her work so rewarding.
Tell us a little about EveryCare.
EveryCare Hospice was founded by our CEO, Taylor Carol, a terminal cancer survivor and son of a hospice nurse. During his five-year battle, Taylor witnessed the flaws in the hospice system and resolved to make a difference. After graduating from Harvard University, he established EveryCare in Fort Worth, TX.
Today, EveryCare delivers world-class care, providing our patients and families with 60% more care visits and an unmatched suite of life-enriching activities. This is made possible by our innovative technology that frees our staff from paperwork, allowing them to spend more time in homes caring for patients.
Our goal is to expand beyond hospice and become a comprehensive care provider for the aging population throughout their entire care journey. We believe the aging population deserves a team that genuinely cares and will not take advantage of them. We are committed to proving that we are that team!
What lead you to starting/working with Taylor on EveryCare?
Taylor had a vision for caring for the aging population that was unmatched. His enthusiasm and genuine love for people made the choice to join EveryCare easy.
What sets your business apart from your competitors?
With 87% of hospices delivering deficient care, EveryCare is committed to exceeding industry standards by offering complimentary services such as music therapy, pet therapy, massage therapy, art therapy, and a "Virtual Reality Passport," which allows our patients to experience their bucket-list dreams from the comfort of their home. We also provide two years of bereavement services after a patient's passing, compared to the 12 months offered by others, and offer memorial gifts to help families cherish the memories of their loved ones. Our goal is to ensure comfort and dignity during our patients' final days and support to families well beyond the passing of their loved one.
What is something you wish you’d known when you were just starting your business?
I wish I was more prepared for the amount of hours and dedication it would require. I had an idea but should have multiplied that estimate by 1000!
How to do you navigate your work-life balance?
I make it a habit to devote a certain portion of my time to specific people or tasks. Although I am always available for my staff, I ensure there are healthy boundaries in place so that others in my life receive the time and attention they deserve as well.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being able to revolutionize what hospice care looks like. I am able to make a difference in a field that has been overrun by fraud and people who's top priority is profit over care.
How has being a part of the CityCentral community affected you and your business?
We have been able to make great connections to other industries that could help to improve how we care for patients, the number of patients we care for and the technology services we could potentially provide for our staff and patients.
Any improvements we could do to help you or your business?
I believe City Central has provided a perfect home for our business. We have been able to expand at our pace and budget and the aesthetic has been something many clients/guests love when visiting our office.
If you had a friend in town, and you could take them to one of your favorite restaurants or spots in your community, where would you take them to?
I would definitely go to Boo Ray's, a New Orleans owned restaurant because it makes me feel as if I am back home in Louisiana.
We want to thank Tonisha for her enthusiasm and willingness to participate in our spotlight series. If you're interested in spotlighting your business with us, don't hesitate to reach out to your community manager - we are always eager to help you network and expand your resources!
