#communityovereverything: Ryan Tompkins

Fostering an environment for our close knit community to grow is one of our top priorities at CityCentral. As part of our Community Over Everything initiative we are featuring different members each month to share their stories! We want all of our members across all CityCentral locations to have the opportunity to get to know each other. This month we had the opportunity to sit down with Ryan Tompkins, a new member at the Fort Worth location. Ryan launched his company Snip-Fit earlier this year and has a powerful story to tell.

“WITH SNIP-FIT THEY DON'T HAVE TO CARVE OUT ANY MORE TIME. THEY DON'T HAVE TO WORK OUT MORE OR HARDER. THEY JUST DO THE RIGHT THING THAT MATCHES UP WITH THEIR ADVANTAGES, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY BEGAN TO GET BETTER RESULTS.”

How much more likely would you be to focus on preventative care if you had a list of your top genetic predispositions for aging? How much more motivated would you be to go to the gym if you knew what type of exercises were going to benefit you the most? Would you eat healthier if you knew the types of foods that were the most advantageous for your genetic makeup? Ryan and his team uses in-depth DNA testing to determine specifically what food, exercise, and overall wellness program will produce the optimum results for each individual client based on their genetic predispositions. Actually, the company name Snip-Fit is inspired by the DNA snips which make us all uniquely different. From the start of their journey with Snip-Fit, every client is required to do a simple cheek swab in order for their DNA to be analyzed. There are a variety of different tests to fit the objective of the client. Whether the goal is weight loss, injury treatment or prevention, building muscle, or anti-aging, there is a test for everything. From the results of the DNA tests the Snip-Fit team can determine traits as specific as how likely you are to lose weight by weight lifting versus running on a treadmill, if you are predisposed to wrinkles or sagging skin, or even how your mental acuity will progress as your age. Although the DNA testing is the foundation and starting point for all clients, it’s in no way the only tool Snip-Fit has to help their clients be successful. They offer Advanced 3D Movement Screens using Artificial Intelligence Technology to determine muscular imbalances, concussion protocols, fall prevention, athletic performance evaluations, etc. The team also has access to laboratory tests such as Micronutrient, MRT, and Covid-19 Antibody testing and we have access to over 300 Mindset exercises, meditations, interventions, etc to help clients overcome bad habits, negative self-talk, self-control, positive thinking, and much more. Their clients don’t have to waste precious time on workouts and diets and that are incompatible with their genetic makeup. Instead, they can spend a focused amount of time on the health and fitness practices that will be most beneficial for them. Isn’t that what we all want?

“DON'T EVER LET YOUR GOALS GO BY THE WAYSIDE”

Snip-Fit is a real life example of a dream resurrected. Early in his career Ryan was working as the Fitness Director at The Baylor Tom Landry Center. He worked there for about 9 years and during which time he became friends with one of the neurosurgeons on staff Dr. Irene Willingham . They both noticed a pattern of different health professionals in the same company working in silos and the negative impact it had on the overall care for their clients. As a result, Ryan and Dr. Willingham began talk about opening a health & wellness center where physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and nutritionists could work collectively towards a common goal. In 2008 they chose to make that dream a reality and set up shop in Highland Park. They filled their facility with fitness equipment and partnered with the top fitness and health professionals. However, as Ryan said “it was the right idea at the wrong time”. After the housing market crashed in 2008 Ryan and Dr. Irene tried to keep the business afloat but eventually had to go a different direction. A hit like that could have easily given Ryan cause to give-up, but instead he took his vision and implemented the parts of it he could in his next role as Athletic Director for a private club. During his time in the private club industry Ryan successfully implemented comprehensive programs and built a team consisting of a variety of health and fitness professionals to support it. The clients participating in the programs had great successes and in-turn their success proved that professionals from different arenas of the health and wellness industry could work collaboratively for the advantage of their mutual clients. However, at a certain point, Ryan pushed the program as far is it could go in the private club industry and so he made the decision to start his own business again, but little did he know what the rest of the year would bring.

THE ENTIRE PLATFORM IS BUILT TO WHERE IT COULD BE 100% VIRTUAL

When Ryan decided to branch out on his own in early 2020 he could not have foreseen the events that were to come in the very near future. A global pandemic could have been cause for giving up, however, unbeknownst to Ryan and his team they had already built a program that could thrive in an increasingly virtual world. The platform for their business was already set up to be 100% virtual. Their clients have the ability to meet with any team member online and get the same level of service and care as meeting in person. This was initially designed so that clients outside of Texas could participate in the programs, but now with many people working from home and needing to limit in-person interactions, the business model is the perfect solution for staying healthy during a very problematic time. Although there was disappointment and hardship along the road, Ryan used every experience to build Snip-Fit into the pioneering business that it is today, and his resilience and forward thinking is making the business a success.

“WE'VE GOT TO HAVE MORE SERVICES OUT THERE FOR THE PERSON WHO IS NOT SICK YET”

One of Ryan’s goals for his company is to be a catalyst for change within the healthcare system. Every job, every success and trial has lead to the launch of Snip-Fit. Throughout his career Ryan has pushed the boundaries of what an athletic facility or program “should be” and implemented innovative processes that yield lasting health benefits for his clients. He has not been afraid to deviate from the standard practices that have been carried out for years and years. The Snip-Fit team utilize modern science and partnerships with highly trained health and fitness experts to serve their clients. Ryan Tompkins and his team focus on building lasting partnerships with their clients to ensure the success of their clients through every stage of life. As we age our health and fitness priorities change, it makes complete sense that our fitness & wellness program should adapt with us. That is exactly what Snip-Fit provides! A program and a team that walks hand-in-hand with you to figure out what will be the most effective plan for you at the different stages of life and the most efficient use of your time during any season. In a time when all our lives have been shifted and we are dealing with increased outside stressors, don’t we want a wellness program that is built around finding solutions to our goals no matter what circumstances we face in life?
