Launch Partner Spotlight: Jesse Mendez

WHEN YOU’RE READY WE’LL BE READY

As we’ve been navigating these trying times, the CityCentral team has been brainstorming ideas on how we can help DFW businesses thrive when the time is right. With the help of our amazing partners, we came up with our latest idea, LAUNCH. The LAUNCH program is #notjustspace, but a set of tools to help you either launch or re-launch your business. Over the next few weeks, we will be talking to our partners in the LAUNCH program who are ready to tell you why they are excited to give back to DFW businesses.

Jesse Mendez has spent nearly three decades working to help companies develop their in-house talent. Just over two years ago Mr. Mendez founded Trekker International, a Plano based company dedicated to developing meaningful growth and goal-oriented training for their clients’ employees. Over his time in the industry, Mr. Mendez has proven to have an eye for identifying the talent development needs of a company and how they can invest in their employees to meet those needs. Now, Jesse Mendez is joining the LAUNCH team to provide  professional coaching  and development for our members. Today Jesse sat down with us to discuss his work, how he’s coping with the times, and his future with LAUNCH.

“I’M SOMEONE WHO LIKES TO UNDERSTAND THE GOALS OF A BUSINESS -- WHY THEY EXIST, WHAT VALUE THEY CREATE.”

When Jesse Mendez founded Trekker after twenty-five years in the industry, the goal was to help companies identify how the individual talents of their staff could help the company achieve its goals. According to Jesse, without first understanding the goals and objectives of the company overall, it’s difficult to develop meaningful and targeted development programs. With that information, Jesse focuses on developing programs that can elevate his clients' employees to perform at a higher level, but also motivate them to perform their best. By aligning the goals of the development programs with the goals of the company he makes employees a valued and integral part of the company's mission.

“HUMAN BEINGS ARE AN ASSET [THAT] CONTINUE TO APPRECIATE OVER TIME.”

What separates Jesse’s approach from the competition is his focus on the value of employee talents. In times of rapid automatization, Jesse continues to promote the value in human growth. Computers, he says, become outdated. They need replacement, they cannot grow or adapt to changing needs within the company. However, human potential is limitless. That is, provided we continue to seek improvement. By aligning a person’s professional goals with the goals of the company, people are naturally more driven to continue bettering themselves to add more value, take on more significant roles, and shoulder more responsibility.

“COMPANIES ARE RELYING ON PEOPLE TO REPRESENT THEM IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE”

Mr. Mendez feels his thoughts on the human workforce has been emphasized by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the face of an unprecedented modern crisis, companies rely on their employees’ ability to adapt to change. People are now working remotely from home, we mostly communicate over video conferencing and email, and have had to adapt to providing service without the option of face-to-face interaction. However, beyond just the ability of people to adapt to new working environments, we also see people in the workforce stepping up to provide essential services in the face of a pandemic. Every essential worker from nurse to grocery stocker is stepping up to keep our communities running. That is an inimitable quality of human beings. Every essential worker has become the face of their company, and have continued to support the community and represent the company by providing the best service they are capable of under very difficult circumstances

“[I WANT TO HELP] YOU GAIN SOME PERSPECTIVE AND CLARITY.”

As a partner with the LAUNCH program, Mr. Mendez’s goal is to help businesses identify their goals and strategies for how to achieve them. For both established businesses and businesses just trying to get started, the current climate has created some uncertainty and even doubt. Mr. Mendez is confident that he can serve as a coach and sounding board, to provide a bit of clarity and focus on determining how business owners stay focused on their core business efforts .. Especially in times like these, it helps to have an extra set of eyes focused on helping leaders to get through the current crisis, but without sacrificing the interim and longer-term strategic goals of the business
