Tell us a little about Guiding Hope Therapy and Counseling.
Guiding Hope Therapy and Counseling is a mental health practice that provides treatment for trauma and related anxiety disorders, along with managing life transitions and adjustments.
What led you to start Guiding Hope Therapy and Counseling?
I have always had a passion for helping others through difficult times. Working in several mental health settings throughout my career, I found that many ways of providing this help were limited by other motives of the agencies or systems I worked for. Therefore, I decided to open my own practice, where I can freely provide the help that is needed with fewer barriers to care.
What sets your business apart from your competitors?
I am certified and trained in providing trauma-specific therapy and counseling interventions, and I have over ten years of knowledge and experience in the field. When you come to Guiding Hope Therapy and Counseling, you do not just walk into a clinic; you receive a personal experience to help guide you towards hope and change.
What is something you wish you’d known when you were just starting your business?
I was trained in being a psychologist and providing treatment, not in how to run a business. I wish I would have known a little more about the complexities of starting and running a successful, profitable business outside of just providing services.
How do you navigate your work-life balance?
It is important for me to set appropriate boundaries with my work hours so that I ensure I have time for myself and my family outside of work. I try to stay engaged in social engagements and my hobbies outside of providing mental health services.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I love seeing the hope on my client’s faces when they experience those first moments of relief in realizing that therapy works and that they can experience real change .
How has being a part of the Plano community affected you and your business?
The diverse community of Plano has helped me grow my business and provided the opportunity to reach and help a wider range of individuals with their mental health.
If you had a friend in town and you could take them to one of your favorite restaurants or spots in your community, where would you take them?
